Item #SG286: Known as terrifying and hideous statues that adorn medieval churches and buildings, gargoyles are actually created to keep away evil spirits and magic, and were often viewed by those who created them and those who sought sanctuary in these dwellings as mystical protectors. This fantastic statue seems to embody all of the protection that they offer in lore. Stout, with heavily muscled arms and legs, a gargloyle crouches at the edge of a pillar with his clawed feet gripping the edge. Large, bat-like wings curl in to fit to his back as he leans his elbows against a riveted shield, resting his chin against crossed forearms; a wizened creature, on guard even as he is at rest.
Made of cold-cast resin, the whole statue measures approximately 4" deep, 3 1/2" wide, and 6 1/4" high. |
